She Fought the Law and Lost

During a quick run to Wal-Mart today, a coworker and I witnessed a rare sight. Well, rare for us, anyway. As we went through the check-outs (I opted for one a bit further from the exit) we soon noticed with multiple other patrons a woman's screaming and yelling from the exit area. Some of the employees were whispering that a woman was trying to get away with the ol' five-finger discount. Needless to say, she was unsuccessful.

Okay, not entirely unsuccessful. She was easily winner of the "Let's Make A Scene" game. I'm not sure how it transpired, but the young woman was sitting on the floor in the entryway to the store, with a man kneeling behind her using a bear hug hold. Constantly yelling "Let me go! Get off me! Let me stand up!!" certainly caught the attention of anyone in the store. And parking lot.

When I moved to leave the store, I thought the nice, elderly woman that sat near the door would tell me to use a different exit. Instead, Blanche directed us to "Go straight out. Don't look. It's not a pretty sight." As soon as we went through the doors, my coworker asked, "Was that her earring on the floor?" I wondered if that was one half of the item that triggered the dispute.

Other than that, the day was fairly uneventful. Coworker pretty much summed it up when she said "That was the most exciting thing I've seen all day." But she also commented that that would happen a lot more often in this economy, which, sadly is probably true. What I don't fully understand is....why the scene? Why act like a three-year-old (maybe tantrums are more for two-year-olds) because you were caught doing something wrong?

Then again, there are likely underlying circumstances I can't fathom. Some people have a moral compass that is oriented dramatically different from my own. If you think Wal-Mart owes you that sweet pair of shades, and they don't let you have them, I guess indignation would be the first emotion to surface.

To blog or not to blog...

So I have decided to give the blog one more shot. Now that I have fairly reliable internet, there is no excuse for not being able to do it. So, either I decide to make an effort and blog....or I stop altogether. If you're gonna do something, do it right, right?

Whoa!

Yeah...I know...an actual post!

So you may have been wondering just what was so important to take me away from my blog. Well, it's really more what kept me from blogging, because blogging via text just does not cut it for me. And accessing WiFi has been difficult because I have been hiding from the cops.

No, I did not hold up a bank (was tempted though), and no I did not assault and/or kill anyone (again, temptations abound). My license expired and, a month later, the registration ran out on the car. Rule #1 if you're riding dirty...make sure the car is clean.

So that is part of the reason why things have been quieter than usual. I've also been a bit swamped at work and lacking energy to make this happen. Okay, that's not completely true. I've been caught up in Musical Mania, okay? I have watched The King and I and Oklahoma! once each, and The Sound of Music three times. And I want to watch it again. So now you know what I do when I'm not blogging.

So last post came across a bit on the bitchy side. Or a lot. I think I am just fed up with not having technological means to make the most of blogging, et al.

In the words of Dwight Schrute, social media is now "unshunned" but I still feel that it's narcissistic/voyeuristic and pointless. I know-real ray of sunshine.

So SICK of 'social media'... gonna unplug for a while.

Hm, so I can blog, but the entry is limited to 160 characters and no title. It is like Twitter plus.
